Nice’s difficult sequence in the French championship continued as they were held to a 1-1 draw at home by newcomers Le Mans in the third round.
The result means Nice have now gone 11 consecutive league matches without a victory, extending a run that began during the previous championship campaign. Their latest failure to win also marks the longest such sequence the club has experienced in the 21st century.
Nice entered the home fixture needing a positive result, but Le Mans secured a share of the points after the two sides scored once each. The draw leaves Nice still waiting for their next victory in the French championship, despite the opportunity to end the sequence on home soil against a newly promoted opponent.
The last time Nice won a league match was on 14 March 2026, when they defeated Angers in the 26th round of the previous championship. Since then, the club have been unable to repeat that result across 11 successive French championship fixtures.
The current run is the longest Nice have endured since the start of the 21st century. It has now stretched beyond every previous winless sequence recorded by the club during that period, with the 1-1 draw against Le Mans adding another match to the unwanted record.
Nice last experienced a comparable spell in the French championship during the 1996/97 season. On that occasion, their wait for a victory lasted 14 matches, making it the club’s longest winless sequence in the competition. The present run is therefore three matches short of matching that mark.
For now, the draw with Le Mans leaves Nice facing a notable piece of club history. Although the latest match produced goals at both ends, it did not provide the victory required to halt their continued slide. The club’s next French championship fixture will offer another chance to end the sequence, but the 11-match wait remains intact after the third round.
