Doma United technical adviser Ayeni Alexander has credited his players’ courage, resilience and composure after their 1-0 victory over Inter Lagos in the 2026/2027 Euromatch NPFL season.
The Gombe-based side secured a hard-fought win at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena on Saturday, maintaining their impressive start to the campaign and recording successive victories against Lagos-based opposition.
Sadiq Rilwan scored the decisive goal in the 71st minute, rising highest to meet a superb cross with a powerful header that beat Inter Lagos goalkeeper Bala Favour.
It was Rilwan’s second goal of the season. His contribution ensured Doma United followed up their opening-day 2-0 success against Sporting Lagos at the Pantami Stadium with another victory on the road.
After the match, Alexander said the result was a reward for the attitude shown by the players rather than simply the tactics or formation used by the coaching staff.
“The feelings was okay, we are glad that the boys really responded well. It’s not just the tactics and formation we applied but it’s about the readiness of the 11 players on the field of play.
“So I want to appreciate their courage, resilience, dexterity and their composure on and off the ball, so they did well, it was a good performance.
Alexander’s comments were posted in an interview on Doma United’s X account after the final whistle.
Doma United will now return to the Pantami Stadium in Gombe for their next league fixture, with Enyimba of Aba scheduled to provide the opposition on Saturday, 12th September, 2026.
The match will give Alexander’s side the opportunity to build on their perfect start against teams from Lagos and continue their early momentum in the Euromatch NPFL.
Their success over Inter Lagos was settled by a single goal, but the result reflected a disciplined display in which Doma United maintained their focus before Rilwan’s second-half header finally broke the deadlock.
For Inter Lagos, the defeat came despite playing at home at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena. Bala Favour was beaten by the quality of Rilwan’s effort, which proved enough to separate the teams.
Doma United’s first victory of the season came against Sporting Lagos, when they won 2-0 at the Pantami Stadium. Saturday’s result means they have now made it two wins from two matches against Lagos-based opponents at the start of the campaign.
Their next challenge will be Enyimba, with Doma United set to resume home duties in Gombe on 12 September.
