German Bundesliga 2 side Hertha BSC have confirmed the signing of Nigerian forward Oluwaseun Adewumi on a season-long loan from Burnley, with the 21-year-old becoming the club's first addition of the summer transfer window, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.
The deal comes after reports earlier on Wednesday indicated that both clubs had reached an agreement. Adewumi remains contracted to Premier League side Burnley until 2028, although neither club has disclosed whether the loan includes an option to make the move permanent.
The talented attacker arrives in Berlin after spending the 2025/26 season on loan at Belgian outfit Cercle Brugge, where he impressed by scoring six goals in 33 appearances across all competitions while gaining valuable first-team experience.
Hertha BSC sporting director Benjamin Weber expressed his delight at securing the youngster's services, highlighting the qualities he is expected to bring to the squad.
"We are delighted that we were able to sign Oluwaseun. Despite his young age, he has already gained valuable experience in different competitions and is capable of playing in several attacking roles. He will enhance our game with his versatility, pace and dynamism."
Adewumi has already linked up with his new teammates at Hertha's pre-season training camp as preparations continue for the 2026/27 campaign.
Although eligible to represent Nigeria, Adewumi has featured for Austria at youth level and will now be hoping to establish himself in Berlin with strong performances during his loan spell.
