Florian Wirtz was monitored by Barcelona and Chelsea before the Germany midfielder joined Liverpool, according to journalist Ekrem Konur.
The 23-year-old winger ultimately chose the Merseyside club after Liverpool showed the strongest interest in signing him. Wirtz moved to Anfield from Bayer Leverkusen in the summer of last year.
Wirtz has represented the Reds since making that move from the Bundesliga side. His current Liverpool contract runs until the end of June 2030.
The German’s market value is currently estimated at 85m euros.
