Enyimba will look to make it four matches without defeat when they visit Katsina United in a Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) matchday eight fixture at the Muhammadu Dikko Stadium on Friday.
The People’s Elephant have recovered from a difficult beginning to the season, having lost their opening four matches. They have since recorded two victories and a draw, a sequence that has taken them out of the relegation zone.
Their recent results include a 2-0 victory over Plateau United, a 4-2 win against Shooting Stars and a goalless draw with Kano Pillars in Kano.
Assistant coach Lawrence Ukaegbu said the change in results had also lifted the mood around the club in Aba, while thanking the supporters for standing by the team during its difficult start.
“I am really grateful to the Enyimba fans for the massive support during our difficult times. The players have responded well by getting two victories and a draw to move away from the relegation zone,” Ukaegbu told Completesports.com.
“We’re going to Katsina United to play well by His grace, either we win or we pick a draw; losing the game is out of it.”
The record between the two sides is closely matched across their past 15 meetings, with both clubs winning seven times and one match ending in a draw.
Enyimba won the most recent encounter, claiming a 3-0 victory in Aba on April 12, 2026. However, Katsina United took the previous meeting in Katsina, winning 3-2 in November 2025.
Katsina United will also enter Friday’s game in positive form. They have won two, drawn two and lost one of their last five matches.
Among those results was a 2-1 comeback victory over Doma United, while they drew 1-1 with Rivers United and Inter Lagos.
Enyimba’s recent revival has moved them away from immediate danger, and another positive result in Katsina would extend their unbeaten sequence to four matches and maintain their progress up the table.
The meeting is part of Friday’s NPFL programme, with Katsina United seeking to use home advantage and Enyimba attempting to continue the run that has followed their first four defeats of the campaign.
