Chelsea are monitoring 15-year-old Gambian attacking midfielder Adama Jeng after his impressive performances at the WAFU Zone A tournament in Senegal, according to Football Insider.
Jeng helped Gambia Under-17 reach the final of the competition in Dakar, attracting attention with his displays during the tournament. The teenager is regarded as one of the most promising players of his generation in African football.
The midfielder came through the academy at Samger FC and is now being watched by a number of European clubs. Bayern Munich, Benfica, Sporting CP and Paris FC are also reported to have taken an interest in his progress.
Chelsea are said to be prepared to act in an attempt to move ahead of their rivals in the race for Jeng. The London club regularly scouts emerging talent around the world and has reportedly been impressed by the Gambian’s performances.
However, no formal offer has been reported at this stage.
Jeng is due to celebrate his 16th birthday in December, and a move to a European club could represent the next significant step in his development. His progress over the coming months is expected to be closely followed as interest in his profile continues to grow.
