Nigeria and England defender Calvin Okike has joined Morton from Hull U21 on loan, adding an 18-year-old centre-back to the Scottish club’s squad.
The move was completed on 3 September 2026, with Okike’s loan scheduled to run until 30 June 2027. He will return to Hull U21 when the agreement ends.
Okike arrives after progressing into Hull’s under-21 side earlier this year. He moved up from Hull U18 on 1 July 2026, following a spell with Hartlepool during the previous season.
The defender spent part of the 2025-26 campaign on loan at Hartlepool after joining them from Hull U18 in February. That loan ended in April, allowing him to return to Hull before making the step up to the club’s under-21 team in the summer.
He has made 13 appearances across the Premier League Cup, National League and FA Youth Cup competitions, scoring once in the National League. Six of those appearances came in the Premier League Cup, while he played five times in the National League and twice in the FA Youth Cup.
Okike began his time in England with Hull U18 after leaving Sunderland’s youth setup in July 2024 on a free transfer. His move to Morton represents his first listed switch away from Hull since progressing through the club’s age-group teams and returning from his Hartlepool loan.
The teenager’s arrival gives Morton a defender with experience of youth and development-level football in England. He wears the number six shirt and has joined the club with his next competitive chapter taking place in Scotland.
Okike is eligible to represent both Nigeria and England, reflecting the two nationalities recorded for the defender. Morton have secured his services for the 2026-27 campaign, while his longer-term club future remains with Hull U21 under the terms of the loan arrangement.
The completed deal sees Calvin Okike leave Hull U21 temporarily and join Morton on loan until 30 June 2027.
