Dutch-Nigerian right-back Kingsley Ehizibue has joined Genoa as a free agent, returning to Serie A after leaving Udinese earlier in 2026.
The 31-year-old completed the move on 3 September and becomes part of Genoa’s squad for the 2026-27 season. No transfer fee was involved after Ehizibue’s period without a club.
Ehizibue departed Udinese on 1 July, ending a spell with the Italian club that began in August 2022. He moved to Udinese from German side 1. FC Koln for €1.5m and went on to make 115 Serie A appearances, scoring four goals and providing two assists.
His experience in Italy is extensive, with his league appearances for Udinese forming the largest part of his top-flight record. He has also played 122 matches in the Eredivisie, registering eight goals and 15 assists, as well as 69 Bundesliga appearances during his time in Germany.
The defender began his senior career with PEC Zwolle, having progressed through the Dutch club’s youth system. He joined the first team in July 2014 after spells with PEC Zwolle Under-17s and Under-19s. Five years later, he moved to 1. FC Koln, where he added Bundesliga experience before switching to Udinese.
Born in Munich on 25 May 1995, Ehizibue is listed as holding Dutch and Nigerian nationality. He stands 1.89 metres tall and is a right-footed defender whose principal position is right-back.
His arrival gives Genoa a player with experience across the Netherlands, Germany and Italy, while his previous Serie A record provides a substantial body of top-flight experience ahead of the new campaign. Ehizibue’s career statistics also include appearances in domestic cup competitions and European qualifying matches.
Genoa have therefore added an established right-back without paying a transfer fee, following his departure from Udinese and subsequent period as a free agent.
Ehizibue’s transfer to Genoa was completed on 3 September 2026.
