Burkina Faso have been placed in Group A alongside Cote d’Ivoire and Benin for the Women’s Under-17 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying tournament organised by the West African Football Union Zone B (UFOA-B).
The draw was held in Ouagadougou on Thursday, 3 September 2026, with seven teams split into two groups for the competition in Cote d’Ivoire.
Group A contains three sides: Cote d’Ivoire, Benin and Burkina Faso. Group B is made up of four teams, with Ghana joined by Nigeria, Togo and Niger.
The tournament will take place in Yamoussoukro, Cote d’Ivoire, from 15 to 28 September 2026. At the end of the competition, the two finalists will secure qualification for the final phase of the Women’s Under-17 Africa Cup of Nations.
The draw places Burkina Faso in a compact group with Cote d’Ivoire and Benin, while the other section features a larger field including two of the region’s leading football nations, Ghana and Nigeria.

The qualifying tournament is the route through which teams from the UFOA-B zone will compete for places at the finals of the Women’s Under-17 Africa Cup of Nations. With only the two finalists advancing, every match in Yamoussoukro will carry significance as the teams seek to remain in contention for qualification.
Burkina Faso’s campaign will therefore begin in Group A, where they will face Cote d’Ivoire and Benin. Cote d’Ivoire will stage the tournament, which runs for two weeks in September.
The draw was completed in the Burkinabe capital before the participating teams turn their attention to preparations for the opening fixtures. The competition’s scheduled dates are 15-28 September 2026, with the final standings determining which two teams take the available tickets to the continental finals.
Group B, meanwhile, brings together four teams in Ghana, Nigeria, Togo and Niger. That section is the larger of the two groups, while Group A consists of three teams.
The tournament will conclude in Yamoussoukro on 28 September, when the two finalists will have secured their places in the final phase of the Women’s Under-17 Africa Cup of Nations.
