Hodgson unsure over Zaha future

Published on: 29 July 2019

Roy Hodgson is uncertain if Wilfried Zaha will remain at Crystal Palace and revealed he is talking to the chairman about his future.

The Eagles' chief is continuing to prepare his side for the upcoming Premier League season without Zaha, who was given an extended break after featuring for Ivory Coast in the African Cup of Nations this summer.

As far as I'm concerned, he is coming back, he is our player and I've been given no information that the club is interested in selling him at the moment.

Arsenal have had a reported £40million bid rejected for Zaha, while Everton are believed to be ready to pay up to £60m for his signature.

And, when asked about the 26-year-old's future following Palace's 5-0 friendly win at Bristol City on Saturday, Hodgson told Sky Sports: "He's dealing with the chairman at the moment. The chairman's his link, they get on very well and know each other very well.

"Most of what's going on with Wilfried is going on between him and the chairman and I can't enlighten you at all.

"I know what you know. I know it through reading on your websites or in newspapers."

Hodgson, who has already lost full-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka this summer after he made a £50m switch to Manchester United, added: "He [Zaha] has not spoken to me. I don't know if he's spoken to the club [asking to leave].

"As far as I'm concerned, he is coming back, he is our player and I've been given no information that the club is interested in selling him at the moment."

Palace are 5/1 to be relegated this season, while they are available at 3/1 for a top half finish.
