"He's not needed' - Shaun Wright-Phillips advises Chelsea on Osimhen's pursuit

Published on: 24 December 2024

Former Chelsea player Shaun Wright-Phillips has advised the club on key positions that need reinforcements, stating that the club's pursuit of Victor Osimhen is pointless, Nigeriasoccernet.com writes.

However, Wright-Phillips has advised his former club to focus on signing a center-back as the January transfer window approaches as per Metro as first called by sportscasting.com.

"I think Victor Osimhen would be a top player in the Premier League, but I wouldn’t necessarily say that the striker position is where Chelsea should be prioritizing in the next few transfer windows.

‘They let Thiago Silva go, but they didn’t replace him. I think they need more experience in the defence rather than in the striker position right now.

‘They’re not struggling to score goals. That’s not a problem for them right now. The problem is they’re conceding goals. If they can cut some of those mistakes then again, we see a different Chelsea", he added.

With Osimhen's future unresolved, PSG, Chelsea, and Manchester United have all shown interest in the Napoli ace who is currently on loan at Galatasaray.
