Ghana midfielder Emmanuel Agyemang-Badu has revealed he almost joined Hearts of Oak in his struggle to blow up during his teething years.

The 24-year-old was one of the major beneficiaries of Ghana’s historic feat at the 2009 FIFA U20 World Cup in Egypt.

Most of the players in that team have moved onto greater things as they now play with some of the top clubs in Europe.

Badu was at the time a raw talent from Seikwa who was loaned to Ghanaian giants Asante Kotoko from Berlin FC.

He in an extensive interview with Metro TV revealed he had talks to join Hearts of Oak until eventually ending up at his boyhood club Kotoko.

"I remember that man [Vincent Sowah-Odotei] invited me to Accra and I had a meeting with Hearts of Oak," he said in the interview.

"I then immediately [after the meeting with Hearts officials] met with Mr. Kyeremeh [President of Berekum Chelsea] but then I got a call from Kotoko.

"It was possible I could play for Hearts but I was a 100 percent Kotoko supporter.

"It took me just one second to decide to play for Kotoko."
