Finnish club Kuopion Palloseura have sent a petition to the Federation of International Football Federation after Nigeria Professional Football League club Sunshine Stars failed to release Paul Onobi to play for them. Onobi, a member of the home-based Super Eagles squad at the last African Nations Championship in Rwanda, has already penned a one -year deal with the Finnish club after he was cleared by Sunshine Stars to make the move. He is however yet to make his debut for the Veikkauligga side as the Owena Waves are yet to allow him complete the deal. “We are disappointed with the conduct of Sunshine Stars over Paul’s transfer, KUPs Chief Executive Officer, Jarmo Heiskanen, said: “They cleared the boy to play for us, but still they have stopped him from completing the deal by not releasing all the relevant documents. “We have petitioned FIFA and are now waiting for their response.” Azubuike Egwueke and Gbolahan Salami are on the other Nigerians on the books of KUPs.
