Super Eagles strike, Taiwo Awoniyi has reached out to his outgoing Nottingham Forest coach, Steve Cooper after the club’s management terminated his contract, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.
The Welsh manager was sacked following a run of poor results with the Tricky Tress.
Forest have won once in their past 13 top-flight games, taking eight points in that period.
They have picked up one point from their past six matches and are five points ahead of third-from-bottom Luton, who have a match in hand.
Awoniyi who is currently nursing a hamstring injury expressed gratitude to the gaffer for helping him actualise his dream of playing in the Premier League.
“Thank you for helping me make my big dream come true and bringing out the best in me. All the very best Gaffer,” he shared on Instagram.

Awoniyi was signed by Cooper last summer and repaid the manager’s faith by netting 10 times in 25 Premier League appearances.
