Enugu Rangers secured their place in the second preliminary round of the CAF Champions League after beating Sobemap 5-4 on penalties following a 1-1 draw in Lome on Friday, 11 September. APR FC also progressed after overturning a first-leg deficit against the Aigles du Congo in Rwanda.
The two sides had drawn 1-1 in the first leg in Nigeria several days earlier, and produced the same score in the return match. After another stalemate, the tie was decided by a penalty shoot-out, with Enugu Rangers prevailing 5-4 to advance.
APR FC produced the other comeback of the day, defeating the Aigles du Congo 3-0 in Kigali.
The Rwandan club had lost the first leg 1-0 in Lubumbashi, but overturned that deficit with a commanding home victory. APR FC went through 3-1 on aggregate, leaving the Aigles du Congo eliminated in the first preliminary round.
