Super Eagles striker Cyriel Dessers has responded to allegations that he requested a wage packet of €6m to sign a permanent deal with Dutch side Feyenoord.

The Nigerian international also expressed his disappointment at the manner in which the events are being reported, suggesting that that was not the full story.

Dessers said: “I think it's a shame it's played on that, because I don't think that's what this story is about. I asked for a wage that is in line with the market."

The Nigerian international, who is now back with his parent club KRC Genk, revealed that he is not just about the money because he gave up a lot financially to make the loan deal to Feyenoord happen in the first place.

The 27-year-old Nigerian International also suggested that he cannot keep giving up his wages as he searches to be an integral member of a team.

"People don't know that, but I gave up pretty hard to get to Feyenoord. Financial has never been a priority for me, but of course I can't keep giving up for years," Dessers explained.
