The opening game of the Africa Cup of Nations saw the host nation, Côte d'Ivoire, seize an early lead as Al Nassr midfielder Seko Fofana found the net just four minutes into the match, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.

Despite a near miss by Fofana and subsequent opportunities for Jean Krasso, the Ivorians maintained control.

In the second half, Guinea-Bissau sought to level the score, with Carlos Mane's corner kick providing a chance that narrowly missed the mark.

Côte d'Ivoire extended their lead as Krasso executed a stunning acrobatic kick, ultimately securing a comfortable victory.

Despite a late opportunity for Guinea-Bissau, with Mama Balde delivering a precise pass to Franculino Dju, goalkeeper Yahia Fofana's save ensured the Elephants claimed maximum points.

The Ivorian can at least take a breath before they play their biggest match of the group on Thursday against Nigeria.
