CAFCC: Udeze talks down Rivers United's qualification chances

Published on: 28 April 2023

Losing the first leg of a knockout game at home by more than a goals leaves a team with mountains to climb and that is the believ of former Super Eagles star Ifeanyi Udeze who believs there is no way back for Nigeria representative on the continent, Rivers United who lost 2-0 at home in the first legt of their CAF Confederation Cup quarterfinal to Young Africans of Tanzania, Nigeriasoccernet.com gathered.

The Pride of Rivers will do more than thev've done so far in this competition if they are to stand a chance to progress to the next round of the competition.

Ahead of this weekend’s reverse tie, Udeze completely writes off Rivers United chances of overturning their first leg deficit against Young Africans of Tanzania.

“I don’t see Rivers United overturning the first leg deficit,” he said on Brila FM’s Breakfast Show.

“Though I love the confidence of the Rivers United players as they believe they can turn it around because anything can happen. it’s football.

“But as for me I doubt if they can go to Tanzania and beat Young Africa.”

With the away goal still much actuve in CAF Competition, Rivers United will have score 3 goals in Tanzania and concede not more than once to progress or win Young Tanzania by the same scoreline they lost at home to force the game into extra-time and penalties.
