Italian side Udinese have denied that he has reached an agreement to join English Premier League side Stoke City, GHANAsoccernet.com can exclusively reveal.

Italian sports newspaper Gazzeta Dello Sport reported on Friday that Udinese have agreed to sell the Ghanaian midfielder Badu to Stoke City.

According to the report in the leading Italian newspaper, the transfer fee is € 6.5 million.

The report by Italian newspaper La Gazzetta dello Sport also claimed the 24-year-old Ghana international has agreed terms for a four-year contract.

However, the Ghana international has told Ghanasoccernet.com that a deal has not been reached for him to move to the English Premier League side.

"I have not reached an agreement to join Stoke City," the Udinese midfielder told Ghana's leading football news website GHANAsoccernet.com on Friday.

Despite this, the most reliable source said Agyemang-Badu could still join the English side as the transfer window shuts on 31 August.

The box-to-box midfielder has been in Udine since January 2010 and scored one goal in 27 Serie A appearances last season.

Stoke City are seeking a replacement for midfielder Steven Nzonzi who has joined Spanish side Sevilla in a £7m deal.

The 26-year-old has signed a four-year deal with the Spanish side, who have inserted a £21.5m buy-out clause in his contract, after undergoing a medical on Thursday morning.

'Sevilla and Stoke City have reached an agreement for the transfer of midfielder Steven Nzonzi, who arrived in Seville on Wednesday night,' said the club's website.

'The player has signed for four seasons and will have a buyout clause of 30 million euros (£21.5m).'

In a short statement Stoke added: 'Stoke City can confirm that Steven Nzonzi has left the Britannia Stadium to join Spanish side Sevilla in a £7m deal.

'The club would like to place on record it's thanks to Steven and offer him our best wishes for the future.'
