Bournemouth 6-1 Hull City: Stanislas Inspires Rampant Cherries to Big Win Over Woeful Tigers

Published on: 15 October 2016

"?A superb display from Bournemouth's Junior Stanislas ruined Mike Phelan's first game as permanent manager of Hull City and condemned the Tiger's to a disappointing 6-1 defeat at the Vitality stadium on Saturday afternoon.

In truth it was an impressive team display from the home side, but special praise will be reserved for Stanislas, who added a couple of goals to his two assists from earlier in the match.

Eddie Howe named an unchanged Bournemouth side for the third straight Premier League match in a row, whilst Hull manager Mike Phelan made four changes to his side from the previous game against Chelsea.

Ahmed Elmohamady, Shaun Maloney, Will Keane and Harry Magure were all brought into the starting XI as the Tigers looked to rediscover a winning formula.

The home side made a bright start and were rewarded for their endeavor as early as the fifth minute with the games' first goal.

Junior Stanislas' wonderful 20 yard free kick struck the right hand post but thankfully for the Cherries, the ball rebounded straight into the path of left back Charlie Daniels who lashed home.

Following the breakthrough, former Liverpool winger, Jordan Ibe, nearly supplied Bournemouth's second goal of the afternoon, when his low cross was smashed against the away side's crossbar by striker Callum Wilson.

Junior Stanislas was next to go close for the hosts when his deflected effort whizzed past the post whilst Ibe again found room to shoot from range, with his 25 yard drive flying just over Marshall's crossbar.

With Hull struggling to contain a dominant Bournemouth side, they stunned the home crowd with an equaliser out of the blue just after the half hour mark.

Ryan Mason's shot from just outside the penalty area took a wicked deflection of Cherries' defender Steve Cook as the ball sailed past a hapless Artur Boruc and into the net.

Although the goal sparked Hull into life, they soon found themselves behind again following another Stanislas free kick. The winger's deep set-piece was floated into the box and met by Steve Cook, who marked his 200th appearance for Bournemouth with a downward header that beat Marshall's despairing dive.

Life was to get worse for the Tigers before half time as they gifted the home side their third goal of the afternoon when Cherries' forward Callum Wilson was fouled by Robert Snodgrass' reckless lunge, just inside the penalty area. Junior Stanislas dispatched the subsequent penalty, firing the ball high down the middle of the goal to make it 3-1 at half time.

The interval did little to alter the flow of the match as Steve Cook was denied his second goal of the game when his close header was brilliantly palmed over by Hull goalkeeper Marshall.

Ibe again shot wide when well placed in front of goal moments before he was substituted with Josh King coming on to replace him.

King made an immediate impact, just like he did against Watford, with a clever flicked pass that put Bournemouth's Adam Smith in behind the Tiger's defence. His cut back rolled across the penalty area and was smashed home by Stanislas, who grabbed his second goal of the afternoon.

Despite Hull threatening a mini revival, the home side went close again after Callum Wilson shot straight at Marshall following a counter-attack led by Jack Wilshere.

Wilson would finally be rewarded for his hard work when he grabbed his sides' fifth goal of the match. Josh King's cross was headed into the top corner by the Bournemouth striker with Hull's marking nowhere to be seen.

Substitute Dan Gosling then scored his first goal in the league this season moments later as Hull boss Mike Phelan's miserable afternoon was completed. The midfielder curled home from the edge of the area to end the scoring and inflict Hull's heaviest defeat of the season.

The win was Bournemouth's biggest ever victory in the Premier League and the first time they have scored six goals in England's top flight.

For Hull manager Mike Phelan, he will have plenty to ponder following his team's woeful display. They slip further down the table and have now lost their last five matches in the Premier League.
