Borussia Dortmund were held to a 2-2 draw by Werder in the fifth round of the German championship after conceding twice in the closing stages.

Dortmund appeared to be heading for victory after scoring two goals in five minutes late in the match. Daniel Svensson broke the deadlock in the 80th minute before Nico Schlotterbeck doubled the hosts’ advantage five minutes later.

That gave Borussia Dortmund what looked like a comfortable lead going into the final stages, but Werder responded with a dramatic late fightback.

Ludovit Reis pulled one goal back in the 88th minute, giving the visitors hope of rescuing a result. Werder completed the comeback in stoppage time when Niclas Fullkrug scored in the 90+3rd minute to make it 2-2.

The result leaves Borussia Dortmund with victory slipping away after they had been two goals ahead shortly before the final whistle.
