Ghana striker Asamoah Gyan has completed his move to Chinese club Shanghai SIPG after signing a two-year contract on Friday.

The 29-year-old signed the contract in the presence of his elder brother Baffour and manager Samuel Anim Addo at the Regal International East Asia Hotel owned by the club.

The deal will earn the Ghana captain a staggering amount of $350,000 per week after leaving the UAE side Al Ain where he earned $250,000 per week.

The move is highly lucrative for Gyan at title-chasing Shanghai, who are coached by former England boss Sven-Goran Eriksson.

"I thank God for this special day, to my family, former playmates at Al Ain and to my fans," Gyan said after signing the contract with the Shanghai-based side.

"I reserve the rest of my comments for the official unveiling next week."

Shanghai SIPG was represented by their General Manager Mr. Chan at the signing-on ceremony.

Shanghai SIPG will be hoping that Gyan is at the peak of his fitness to lead them to the top-flight title.

In the 16-team Super League table, the team is currently on second spot, one-point behind leader Beijing Guoan after 17 matches.

Gyan was confident that he can show his scoring prowess for his new club and take them to the heights as he did with Al Ain.

The club was unable to organize a press conference to unveil Asamoah Gyan as their latest signing with the team travelling to Guangzhou to face R&F in an away league match.

The unveiling ceremony is now likely to take place next week Tuesday or Wednesday as the side will return from the league match on Monday.

Asamoah Gyan signed onto a two-year deal with an option for a renewal having passed a routine medical.

The Black Stars captain is arriving from Al Ain where he has enjoyed immense success for the past four years.

Gyan enjoyed four trophy-laden years in the UAE, scoring 95 goals in 83 matches but Al Ain said they were forced to sell after receiving the highly lucrative offer from Shanghai, who are chasing a first top flight title.
