Yusif Basigi, head coach of the Black Princess of Ghana has revealed the tactics he employed following their nervy 2-1 win against the Falconets yesterday to claim gold in the women football competition at the ongoing African Games in Accra, Ghana.

Christopher Danjuma’s ladies who were the defending champions collapsed in front of a packed Cape Coast stadium despite taking the lead in the 28th minute through Edeh Njideka.

But inspired by a vociferous home crowd, the Black Princesses rallied impressively in the second half to turn the final on its head and win the gold medal.

Speaking in his post match pressers after the game to Nigeriasoccernet.com, the delighted Yusif Basigi lauded the team for their resilience and their courageous attitude to complete a magnificent comeback.

“I am so happy for the girls, the team did brilliantly together. When we were behind, we never lost our faith, we kept the fight on and we were rewarded”.

“It’s an incredible feeling especially in front of the home fans, we knew that we couldn’t let them down as they have been so supportive since the beginning of the competition”.

Addressing his tactics to stage the comeback, Basigi all smiles stated; “We exploited Nigeria’s backline, we overloaded the left back and also the central defender because we know that they aren’t comfortable on the ball. It was a just a matter of time, we were patient enough to wait till the perfect time and we excelled in the plan”.

Yussif Basigi still remains undefeated since his appointment. He has 15 wins and 2 draws since he took over as Black Princesses head coach, winning two major trophies within 9 months.

Nigeria U-20 failed to make it out of the group stage after loosing two games out of three against Uganda and Senegal.
