AFCON 2023: Super Eagles of Nigeria with clean disciplinary slate as Senegal, Mali, Ivory Coast get fines

The Super Eagles of Nigeria are among a host of other national teams who participated in the just concluded 2023 AFCON at Abidjan with good disciplinary records as released by the African football governing body (CAF) with Senegal, Mali and also the host fined for misconducts.

When players of the Fédération Malienne de Football mistreated the match official, the organization was accused of wrongdoing and the player Hamari Traore was judged guilty of unsportsmanlike behavior towards the match official by the Disciplinary Board. Traore received a four-match suspension, of which two are one-year suspensions.

Additionally, the Fédération Malienne de Football was fined $10,000 USD, Nigeriasoccernet.com can confirm.

Another organization accused of team wrongdoing was the Fédération Ivoirienne de Football. They were hit with a $5,000 US fine. Krepin Diatta was accused of defaming CAF for remarks he made following the Senegal vs. Côte d'Ivoire match on January 29, 2024.

Krepin Diatta, the player, was found guilty by the Disciplinary Board. Diatta was given a four-match suspension, of which two are one-year suspensions. Additionally, he was fined $10,000 USD.

In addition, the Fédération Sénégalaise de Football was fined $5,000 USD for their misbehavior.
