Xavi has returned to Barcelona with his wife after the season ended with AL Saad reportedly to enjoy the holidays at home.
Mundo Deportivo reports that Xavi’s contract has already been renewed with the Qatari club until 2023 and without a release clause to allow him to return to Barcelona. The great uncertainty around the future of Ronald Koeman has fuelled speculation of Xavi's return.
Xavi was heavily linked to the Barcelona top job in the case that Victor Font won the presidential election. Now that Laporta is the president, Xavi is not a priority for the Barca Job and MD claim that if Xavi had expressed an interest in coaching the Barcelona B team first 2 years ago as Pep did many years ago then perhaps Laporta would have considered him.
Xavi is the popular candidate amongst the Barca fans and members but Laporta does not like to have his plans made for him. He instead would like to put his own stamp of authority on the future of Barcelona.
