Re-elected Ghana FA president Nyantakyi vows to improve spectatoring in Premier League
Kwesi Nyantakyi

Re-elected Ghana Football Association Kwesi Nyantakyi has revealed his plan to improve crowd attendance at Premier League matches.

Nyantakyi wants to tackle the issue of diminishing crowds in the Ghana top-flight with the invasion of foreign leagues in the country.

The 47-year-old helped secure two major sponsors for the Premier League with First Capital Plus Bank and pay TV station SuperSport on board.

But Nyantakyi is determined to get the fans back to the stadia before his tenure comes to an end in 2019.

“We will place special emphasis on improving spectatoring for our leagues which have been severely affected by this Africa-wide problem of the invasion of foreign football on our television, among other factors,” he said in his acceptance speech.

“The clubs must play a key role in the strategic measures we will adopt to ensure that we stem this tide and revive local interest.”

Nyantakyi was returned unopposed at Congress on Tuesday in Tamale for a four-year third term of office.
