Mozambique took control early, with Faizal opening the scoring in the 37th minute by heading home from a precise Geny Catamo corner. Geny then doubled the advantage four minutes later, confidently converting from 12 yards.
Gabon responded just before half-time when Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang tapped in after Siluane’s initial save rebounded kindly for the Marseille forward. However, Mozambique restored their two-goal cushion in the 52nd minute as Calila nodded in at the back post.
Gabon mounted a late push and pulled another goal back in the 77th minute through Moussounda, who finished from close range after Siluane was beaten following a rebound, but Mozambique held on to seal a historic triumph.

Meanwhile, Ivory Coast and Cameroon played out an entertaining 1–1 draw in their Group F clash in Marrakech, leaving both sides level on four points heading into the final round of fixtures.

The results leave group F open, while in group E, there is still much to play for by Sudan with three points, and Equatorial Guinea and Burkina Faso with 0 points.
