Wojciech Szczesny Set for Roma Medical After Arsenal Agree £13.4m Deal

"?Wojciech Szczesny is set for a medical with Roma on Wednesday after the Serie A side agreed another loan deal with Arsenal, but this time with a permanent option of £13.4m.

The 26-year-old made 42 appearances on loan in Rome last season as he firmly established himself as both Rudi Garcia and then Luciano Spalletti's number one goalkeeper.

Now the "?Daily Mail report that, despite a late show of interest from Everton, Roma now hope to re-complete the signing of the Polish stopper.

Szczesny had made 180 appearances for Arsene Wenger's side, the last of which came in the FA Cup final victory over Aston Villa in 2015.

However, after he was caught smoking in the showers after the New Year's Day defeat to Southampton earlier that year, he was replaced in the Premier League side by David Ospina.

The Polish international was never likely to get a look in after Arsenal completed the signing of Petr Cech and it seems as though he impressed enough last year to earn the first-team football he desires through a move to the Italian capital.

Szczesny is set to miss Roma's pre-season tour of the US that most recently saw them overcome Liverpool 2-1 on Monday thanks to goals from two other former Premier League stars, Edin Dzeko and Mohamed Salah.

Should Everton's late interest pose no difficulties, the deal is expected to be all wrapped up by the end of the week and the Polish international's ten year association with Arsenal will come to an end.

Szcz?sny's returns to Roma on loan with a £13M buy option. Shame IMO always liked him. Loved the club a lot. pic.twitter.com/CG0cpfof4Y
