USCN Cavaliers Sack Nigerian Coach Usman Abdallah After Poor League Run

Published on: 23 January 2026

Benin Republic football club USCN Cavaliers have parted ways with Nigerian head coach Usman Abdallah after just six months in charge, following a disappointing run of results in the domestic league, Nigeriasoccernet.com understands. Abdallah, who was appointed in August 2025, leaves the Cavaliers rooted in 16th position on the Championnat National table.

The club has managed only 11 points from 14 matches so far this season, recording two wins, five draws, and seven defeats, a return that has kept them stuck in the relegation zone.

The decision to terminate Abdallah’s contract was taken after weeks of inconsistent performances, with club officials pointing to the team’s poor league standing and lack of progress as the major factors behind the move.

Despite his brief and difficult spell in Benin, Abdallah remains a respected figure with wide-ranging experience across Africa, Asia, and Europe, both as a player and a coach. He is particularly well known in Nigeria for his successful stint with Enyimba, where he led the Aba giants to the Nigeria Professional Football League title in the 2018/19 season and guided them to the CAF Champions League group stage in the same campaign.

USCN Cavaliers are now expected to appoint an interim coach as they battle to turn their season around and avoid relegation in the second half of the campaign.
