"?Tottenham Hotspur have seen a £1.7m offer for Espanyol goalkeeper Pau Lopez rejected by the Spanish club.
"?Spanish news outlet Sport reported that the La Liga side that rebuffed Spurs' initial advances for their shot stopper. However, the publication goes on to state that talks are ongoing between the two clubs, with a deal likely to be reached for around £4.2m.
Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino is believed to be interested in signing ample backup to current number one Hugo Lloris.
The France international's only competition at White Hart Lane has come in the form of Netherlands keeper Michel Vorm. The former Swansea man, however, has failed to convince Pochettino that he can prove to be an able deputy in the absence of Lloris.
Pochettino has ties with Espanyol after previously managing them between 2009 and 2012.
And the 44-year-old believes his connections to the club will help smooth negotiations for the transfer of Lopez. Despite being only 21-years-old, Lopez has already made the number one spot at Espanyol his own.
The goalkeeper only made his senior debut for the Estadi Cornellà-El Prat-based side in a Copa Del Rey match back in December 2014.
But, after impressing in 10 first-team matches throughout the 2014/15 season, Lopez was handed the number one jersey on a permanent basis last term. The Spain Under-21 international made 38 appearances in all competitions for Espanyol throughout 2015/16.
Despite his promising talent, Lopez kept just seven clean sheets as Periquitos shipped the highest number of goals in Spain's top flight last season - the final count reading 74 in spite of Lopez's best intentions.
Lopez will join fellow summer recruits Victor Wanyama and Vincent Janssen if he agrees to a switch to the Premier League.
