"?Southampton midfielder Dusan Tadic has become a target for Bundesliga outfit Schalke 04, as they prepare for life without star forward Leroy Sane.
That's according to the "?Daily Mail, who claim that Tadic is unwilling to accept a new deal at St. Mary's.
Bayer Leverkusen are also said to be keen on signing the player, who has scored 11 goals in 65 Premier League outings for the Saints since joining them for £10.9m from FC Twente back in 2014.
Manchester City have been tipped as Sane's next club, with the English side having launched a bid of £35m for the player. Schalke, however, asked them to make it £42m, and are now in the hunt for a replacement.
City's new boss Pep Guardiola knows Sane quite well, having come up against him during the Spaniard's time as Bayern Munich manager. It is understood that he wants the 20-year-old to reinforce an already potent attacking front line inclusive of Sergio Aguero, Nolito, Kelechi Iheanacho and Wilfried Bony.
Sane is a product of the German club's youth academy, and has scored 11 times for them, having made 46 appearances since he was handed his debut in 2014. If they keep him at the club until next year, he could leave for a pre-negotiated sum of £31.3m because of a clause in his contract.
Schalke have already secured the signing of Breel Embolo from Basel, also in an attempt to soften the blow of losing Sane. Embolo has said that he would love to work with the young German, but admits that it's not an easy situation.
"I would be happy to play with Leroy," he said. "But I know the situation, which is not as easy as it looks from the outside."
