Former Manchester United defender Nemanja Vidic has revealed his toughest opponent during his time in the Premier League, and surprisingly, that player isn't ex-Liverpool star Fernando Torres.
Vidic was immense in central defence for United over an eight year spell, that was until Fernando Torres and Liverpool visited Old Trafford in 2009, with the Spaniard proceeding to give Vidic the absolute run-a-round in a dominant 4-1 win.
However, Vidic, who has 211 Premier League appearances to his name, can name at least three strikers that were tougher to come up against than Torres.
Speaking to "?Dream Team FC, the Serbian defender said:
"?"People say: "?You had a difficult game against Torres', but it was just the one game,
"I went to head the ball but changed my mind and tried to pass to Edwin [van der Sar]. I misjudged the distance and Torres scored.
Nemanja Vidic claims Didier Drogba gave him more problems than Fernando Torres. Plus Suarez and Aguero were the best https://t.co/4NKTmKPewr
"Drogba was tougher. Torres always created a chance to score, but Drogba was on you for the full game.
"Drogba was physically the hardest; [Luis] Suarez and [Sergio] Aguero were the best."?
Vidic went on to say that if Drogba had avoided his injury troubles at Chelsea, he would have been a far more formidable opponent.
"Drogba would be even better if he didn't get so many injuries. They were the top three I played against."?
Despite playing 28 times in Serie A for Inter last season, Vidic retired in January of this year after failing to appear in a single game during the 15/16 season.
His career will be remembered for forming an impenetrable with ex-England captain Rio Ferdinand during Sir Alex Ferguson's peak of management.
