"?Manchester United defender Luke Shaw has insisted that the squad are looking to impress both the fans and their new manager Jose Mourinho during their pre-season trip to China, according to "?manutd.com.

The side have arrived in Shanghai, and will be preparing for a stern test of the current squad's credentials when they take on both Borussia Dortmund on Friday and fierce rivals Manchester City three days later.

Shaw, who has now returned to full fitness following a broken leg in the early stages of last season, has admitted that this is an important stage of their preparations for the new campaign, and is also crucial in showing new manager Mourinho who will be a significant part of his plans come August: "I've heard the fans in China are crazy about United, so I've been really looking forward to coming here and playing a couple of games."

"It's about minutes but we want to impress our fans with the way we're playing and we also want to impress the new manager, to show him what we can do and fight to get into the starting XI. Hopefully we can create a good time."

Shaw made his full comeback in the side's 2-0 friendly victory over Wigan Athletic on Saturday, and is keen to make it through this gruelling pre-season regime fully fit and ready for the new season with no injury problems: "Every pre-season is important for me because I always want to be fit for the start of the season, but of course I've been out for 10 months."

"Everyone needs to look after their body really well. When you first come back, there are little niggles and tight areas that you need to look out for. But the main thing is to get through pre-season and make sure you're fit and ready for when that first game comes around."
