Manchester United Could Wrap Up £105m Paul Pogba Talks by End of the Weekend

Published on: 15 July 2016

"?Manchester United seem to be edging ever closer to landing Juventus and France midfielder Paul Pogba in a £105m deal that would see the 23-year-old become the most expensive player in history, smashing the previous record mark of £85m when Gareth Bale joined Real Madrid.

Another day, another Pogba update. The Sun has claimed that negotiations with both Juve and Pogba's agent Mino Raiola are expected to be wrapped up over the course of this weekend.

It is said that Raiola, who also represents new United stars Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Henrikh Mhitaryan, has been locked in talks with Old Trafford officials over personal terms. But the key breakthrough appears to have been made.

As such, it is said that Pogba will sign a five-year contract worth in excess of £200,000 per week when he returns from a holiday in the United States shortly. The tabloid newspaper also claims he could then even be in Manchester to undergo a medical as soon as Tuesday.

United's pursuit of Pogba, a player who spent three of his teenage years with the club until 2012, fits perfectly with Jose Mourinho's summer plans and would be the final piece of the jigsaw as he strengthens the core of the promising squad he inherited from Louis van Gaal.

The new manager explained at his maiden press conference earlier this month that he wanted to bring in four new signings. He had two at the time, with Mkhitaryan almost over the line as he was speaking. Pogba appears destined to be that fourth.

Mourinho had also specified that he had no intention of delaying his summer business until close to the transfer deadline, so having all four likely finalised before the club flies out to China for their planned pre-season tour is perfect. Even if Pogba isn't part of the touring squad.
