Newly appointed Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has banned his players from using Pokemon Go ahead of the Red Devils' friendly against Man City on Monday, according to "?reports.

The Portuguese manager has reportedly put a blanket ban on the smartphone game, which has become a worldwide sensation since it was released in June.

Mourinho will lead his side out against bitter-rivals Manchester City on Monday, as both Manchester clubs collide in Beijing for the International Champions Cup.

Players were instructed to leave their smartphones at home in order to solely focus on tactics ahead of their meeting with Pep Guardiola's side.

A large number of United stars are reportedly hooked on the new Pokemon game, which involves travelling to locations around the globe to capture classic characters from the 90's sensation.

As quoted in the "?Daily Star, a source close to the club said:

"Jose loves having a great relationship with his players and staff, and thinks it's great for them to chill and relax away from training and games,

"He's still finding his way around Old Trafford and treading carefully.

"The only thing he has picked up on which he's told the lads of is his concern about Pokémon.

"He says for 48 hours before a match he wants the guys to leave it alone and concentrate on the tactics he and his staff have been working on in the days before."?

The decision is probably fair enough from the Special One, who is set to face off against old sparring partner Pep Guardiola on Monday.

"?The Manchester City boss revealed that there was 'no need' for an atmosphere between the pair, and that there was "?"?'no reason' why he and Mourinho wouldn't shake hands.
