Liverpool Set to Battle Leicester City and AC Milan for Highly-Rated Roma Midfielder

"?Jurgen Klopp is looking to further bolster his midfield options with a bid for Roma's Leandro Paredes, a move that will be backed by the club's owners.

"?Reported in the Express, Klopp will look to add to his squad after he saw his side fall to a 2-0 defeat to Burnley on Saturday afternoon.

The Reds are believed to be monitoring the situation in Italy, and will face competition from Premier League champions Leicester City and Roma's fellow Italian side AC Milan, who have both registered their interest in the player.

Having made a real impression during a loan spell with Empoli in which he made 33 appearances and found the back of the net on two occasions, Paredes is not short of suitors from across the continent.

Returning to his parent club after an impressive season, Jurgen Klopp was able to see Paredes' ability first hand as Liverpool took on Roma as part of their pre-season preparations.

Paredes started for the Italian side against the Merseysiders and clearly impressed Klopp as the club look to build upon their successful time under the German to date.

Should the Argentine arrive at Anfield he will become the eighth man to do so as Klopp looks to stamp his 'geggenpressing' playing style on his side.

However Liverpool chairman Tom Werner is happy for the spending spree to continue despite outlaying £65m on new players already this summer.

"I think our supporters see that the players Jurgen has recruited have real quality.

"He believes that those players will make a positive impact. It's our job to support him," he added.

Joel Matip, Alexander Manniger, Ragnar Klavan, Lorius Karius, Sadio Mane and Georginio Wijnaldum have all arrived on Merseyside to date.
