Liverpool Keen to Add to Arsenal Woes By Hijacking Move for Valencia's Shkodran Mustafi

Liverpool are looking to heap further misery on Arsene Wenger and his Arsenal side just a week after dismantling 4-3 at the Emirates, by signing the Gunners' long term target Shkodran Mustafi from under their noses.

"?"?Reported by Eldesmarque, Jurgen Klopp is keen to put his rivals under further pressure by securing a quick fire move for the German defender, after their Premier League rivals have haggled over the transfer fee.

Valencia are keen to offload their enigmatic defender in a bid to balance the Spanish clubs' book"?s in accordance with Financial Fair Play regulations.

The 24-year-old is one of the La Liga side's most valuable assets, with Valencia willing to accept cut price bids in the hope of securing Mustafi a new club.

Arsenal have been linked with the defender after Per Mertesacker was ruled out for an extended period of time whilst Laurent Koscielny did not return to the club fit enough for the rigours of the Premier League.

The Gunners have yet to be convinced of the move as they look to hold some money back for a new striker, however it appears their hand may be forced following Liverpool's involvement in negotiations.

Klopp is keen to reshape his Liverpool side having already made a number of new signings, whilst the likes of Martin Skrtel and Kolo Toure have departed with Mamadou Sakho's future at the club still hanging in the balance.

Both clubs appear in need of a defender, as was made evident in the season opener at the Emirates last weekend.

Seven goals were scored as the attackers tore strips out of the opposing defensive lines, only underlining the value securing Mustafi's signature could bring.
