"?Manchester City are one step closer to signing Schalke winger Leroy Sane after agreeing an initial £31.2m fee for the 20-year-old, according to a "?Daily Mail report.

Earlier this month the Germany international "?handed in a transfer request, opening up a potential switch to Pep Guardiola's side.

Schalke's asking price was a stumbling block initially, with the Bundesliga outfit requesting £50m for their young star.

But now, with a fee reportedly agreed, Sane has said his goodbyes to his Schalke teammates ahead of travelling to Manchester ahead of a medical in the coming days.

While the initial fee is just £31.2m, Schalke have demanded a number of add-ons which could see the overall deal rise to £46.5m.

On Saturday, the German media, as referenced by the Daily Mail, claimed that Sane had travelled to Manchester ahead of completing his medical at the Etihad.

Schalke are planning to reinvest the whopping transfer fee, with bids already being lodged for Chelsea left-back Baba Rahman, Wolfsburg central-defender Naldo and right back Coke from Sevilla.

For Manchester City on the other hand, they are "?reportedly keeping a close eye on Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey, who was one of Wales' star performers at Euro 2016 this summer.

Another potential signing for Pep Guardiola is "?young Everton defender John Stones, who although being valued at £50m, is expected to make a switch to Man City at some stage this summer.

For now, City will focus their attentions on pulling the Sane deal over the line, with the 20-year old winger reportedly 'very keen' on a switch to the Premier League.

"?Sane completed his first full season in the Bundesliga last campaign, playing 33 times, scoring eight goals and notching six assists.
