Juventus Confirm Italian Record Signing of Gonzalo Higuain From Napoli For €90m

Juventus have completed the signing of Napoli forward Gonzalo Higuain in an Italian record move, bringing the 28-year-old to Turin on a five-year deal.

The transfer had moved close to completion over the weekend with reports of the Argentine completing a medical with the Serie A champions and putting a deposit down on a home in Turin, with Juventus finally agreeing a €90m fee for Napoli for the prolific striker's services.

That fee will be paid in two instalments of €45m, with the forward netting a whopping €7.5m per season to move to the 2015 Champions League finalists.

The information about the deal leaked out a little early online, with Serie A dropping the transfer into the 'completed deals' section of their website on Tuesday afternoon after receiving all of the official paperwork.

Napoli also tweeted on Tuesday evening confirming that Juve had activated Higuain's release clause - but stopping short of confirming the completion of the move.

Last season saw Higuain break Gunnar Nodahl's long-standing Serie A goalscoring record with 36 goals from just 35 games, and he has now become the third most expensive footballer of all time - behind only Real Madrid's Gareth Bale and Cristiano Ronaldo.

The move has led to an increase in the speculation linking Juve midfielder Paul Pogba with a switch to Manchester United, with his club expected to need an injection of funds to refill their accounts after Higuain's arrival.

Higuain hasn't been able to add the Serie A title to the three La Liga championships he won when at Real Madrid, but his move to the holders is likely to see that streak end sooner rather than later.
