Jurgen Klopp Reflects on Liverpool Defeat By Roma: It Was Easy to See Why and We Can Change It

"?Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has admitted his side have been left drained by an "intensive" schedule during their tour of the United States, but is pleased that the problems in Monday night's defeat to Roma were clear because it means there is chance to address them.

"We weren't compact in the first half and had too big spaces between the positions, so nearly every offensive action of Roma was a chance. It makes no sense," Klopp was quoted as saying by Liverpoolfc.com after the 2-1 defeat in St Louis.

"Sometimes as a manager you have to accept things and tonight I can accept it because I know why," the German added.

Goals from familiar Premier League faces Edin Dzeko and Mohamed Salah either side of Sheyi Ojo equaliser were ultimately the difference for the Italian club.

"13 days in the USA and the hardest circumstances tonight at the end, after a lot of intensive sessions and then this wet heat. It was not too easy," Klopp continued.

"We had a lot of games in the last few weeks and the opponent had no games in the last two weeks. We knew all that before the game, so it's hard."

Reflecting that the Reds "have to do better" in such games, Klopp positively pointed out, "It was easy to see what's wrong; that's good because it's easier to change it."

Overall, he is very pleased with what the squad has achieved over the last fortnight.

"We did really well in this pre-season camp - we had a lot of perfect sessions and really good moments in our games," the boss explained.

"We didn't score often enough [against Roma] but I'm happy nobody is injured after this game."

Alberto Moreno picked up a slight knock during the friendly, but Klopp later insisted the problem was nothing worth being overly concerned by.
