Jorge Mendes Offers Chelsea Forward Diego Costa to Napoli After Atletico Madrid End Their Chase

"?Chelsea striker Diego Costa has been offered another route out of Stamford Bridge following Atletico Madrid's decision to end their pursuit of their former hit-man.

The Champions League finalists recently signed Kevin Gameiro, effectively putting an end to the Costa-Atletico return speculation.

But with the Blues still keen on signing another top forward before the end of the window, Costa's agent, Jorge Mendes, has offered the Spaniard to Serie A side Napoli, with reports claiming that he does not want to see his client stuck on Antonio Conte's bench.

Corriere dello Sport, in particular, report that the super-agent is pushing for a Napoli transfer for Costa, as Chelsea are believed to be seeking a return of their own with the pursuit of Belgian ace Romelu Lukaku, who currently plays for Everton.

Gonzalo Higuain's departure to Juventus has left the Italian outfit with a huge void up front, and they are keen on finding a replacement to operate at the point of attack.

Costa would provide them with a solid option up front, who can score goals at a great rate, having scored 32 Premier League goals, along with nine assists, in 54 appearances since leaving the Vicente Calderon for the London side.

It is understood that the striker is unsettled at Chelsea, but does not want to force a move out of respect for the club.

Conte intends to keep him at Stamford Bridge, but if the Blues do sign another striker, and Napoli makes a big enough offer, we could see the Brazil-born player make an exit before the close of the window.
