"?Inter Milan president Erick Thohir has denied reports that his relationship with the club's former coach Roberto Mancini soured in the months leading up to his sacking from the Italian side.
According to "?Gazzetta World, a rift had appeared to have come between the two towards the end of the last campaign, which led to the Nerazzurri pair ceasing in all communications, ultimately ending the manager's two-year-reign at the club.
However, when questioned on these rumours of a bad relationship between himself and the former Manchester City manager, Thohir only had good things to say about the Italian coach, praising him for the work done at Inter: "Firstly I would like to say thank you to Roberto Mancini."
"He has done some great things for the club and last season we moved forward. We got on well but I think we needed a change."
Thohir also explained why the club had decided to part ways with the experienced coach, bringing in former Ajax manager Frank de Boer as his replacement for the start of the new season, but admitted that it may take time for him to acquire the players he wants in the transfer window: "It is important for our fans to see we are serious. We have brought Frank in because we want to get Champions League football."
"It is vital for us to make our squad more competitive, Antonio Candreva will certainly help in that respect."
"There are a couple more players that we would like to sign, but it might take a while with Frank coming in at short notice."
