Hans-Joachim Watzke Insists Dortmund Are Done With Transfers for the Summer

"?Borussia Dortmund CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke has made it abundantly clear that the club has completed all transfer business for the summer, at least when it comes to players being bought.

The German side have bounced back nicely after losing key figures in recent months. Ilkay Gundogan, Mats Hummels and Henrikh Mkhitaryan have all departed, but Dortmund have been able to patch the holes with some bright young talent.

They have gone out and secured transfers for Marc Bartra, Sebastian Rode, Mario Gotze, Andre Schurrle, Ousmane Dembele, Emre Mor, Mikel Merino and Raphael Guerreiro. And Watzke now believes that the club have more than enough squad members.

"As things stand, there will be no more new arrivals before the end of the transfer window," Watzke told Bild am Sonntag (via "?Four four two).

"If anything, we already have too many players at the moment."

Watzke, somewhat sarcastically, added that the club would not risk financial trouble by going for big-name targets.

"We will not be bringing in any key players who just won the Champions League with Real Madrid.

"We cannot afford to do anything more than not getting into debts and make sure we are financially stable."

The players bought may not hail from the Madrid club, but in a few years time, you may not know it.

Dembele, particularly, was being watched by a host of clubs before signing for the club, and is already showing his immense talent in pre-season, having scored with a remarkable strike against Manchester United during a 4-1 win on Friday.

Having spent well this summer, Dortmund look ready to challenge Bayern Munich for the Bundelsiga title in the coming campaign.
