"?AS Roma legend Francesco Totti has blasted the attitudes of foreign players in Italy, speaking in a revealing interview with "?La Gazzetta dello Sport.

The veteran striker suggested that Italian football would be better off with a maximum of two foreign players per team, suggesting in the unedifying interview that foreign players were more likely to flit between clubs in order to earn more money.

He described the €90m transfer which saw Gonzalo Higuain move from Napoli to Juventus on Tuesday as a 'disaster', saying: "The sport has changed a lot. Now the focus is more on money. Players change teams more often, to make maybe more money. It's more business than passion.

"People come to the stadium to have fun and to see a player that's always with the same team. Maybe they hope for a player that won't betray them.

"Look at what's happened now with Gonzalo Higuain leaving Napoli for Juventus. It's a disaster. But, it's completely normal now that when a foreigner comes to Italy he has the possibility of going to another team to make more money."

When asked how the Italian national team could improve, he said: "They need to change their mentality. For me, I think they need to focus more on young players. There are so many that are talented but obscured by foreigners. It's all changed.

"It's more important to have foreigners on your team than Italians. Some think if you get an Argentine or a Brazilian that he'll be like [Diego] Maradona. People are happier with that."

He added: "If it was up to me I'd go back to the old times, when there was a maximum of two foreigners on every team. The rest should be Italian, maybe two or three on the pitch that aren't.

"With our team we don't even speak Italian. We speak English. Players, coaches, trainers, massage therapists all speak English. They're all foreigners now."
