"?Former Reds midfielder Xabi Alonso spoke with "?ESPN this week and discussed his effervescent career and most notably his thoughts on Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool, the man who once put his focus on conquering Alonso's current side, Bayern Munich.
On the subject of the current Liverpool boss, the Spanish midfield maestro spoke highly of the Borussia Dortmund predecessor labelling him as a 'special' individual, who can lead the Reds to greater things.
"It's important to find the right man"?, he said. "And I think that so far, in just a few months, he has embraced the Liverpool culture, what the club means, how the fans are, the passion you need to have to represent Liverpool. He's a special character, I think, and that's why he's loving it so far. Hopefully, in the new season he can turn those good feelings into something more."?
Alonso enjoyed five seasons at Merseyside, featuring 210 times in a Liverpool jersey, scoring a respectable 18 goals from his defensive safeguard position. In his first season Liverpool lifted the Champions League trophy in dramatic fashion against AC Milan and later added an FA Cup winners medal two years later.
Sadly, perhaps the 34-year-old's biggest blemish from his days in England and his star-studded career in general was not getting his hands on that all so prestigious Premier League trophy.
Since the departure of Alonso, Liverpool have battled to win that first Premier League trophy, and fallen short on each occasion, most painfully in their Suarez-energised title charge in 2013/14.
However, Alonso does not think it will be long before they parade the streets of Liverpool with their winning league medals.
