Dynamo Dresden Supporters Allegedly Throw Severed Bull's Head Onto Pitch During German Cup Tie

An unsavoury German cup clash between Dynamo Dresden and bitter rivals Red Bull Leipzig was marred by a severed bull's head, which was allegedly thrown on the pitch by Dresden supporters on Saturday. 


The two sides, who contest one of the most heated rivalries in German football, played out a thrilling 2-2 draw, which eventually ended in a 5-4 penalty win for Dynamo Dresden.

The intense rivalry somewhat overshadowed a thrilling affair, with Dresden fans throwing a severed bull's head onto the field of play, which was a reference to Leipzig's founding body Red Bull.


Dresden found themselves 2-0 down in the first half, as Leipzig's Marcel Sabitzer and Dominik Kaiser both scored early on.

It was up to the hosts to respond, and they did exactly that, with Stefan Kutschke scoring a stunning brace to force the tie to a penalty shoot-out.


After the tie, talk was focused on the unsavoury scenes of between supporters. And it wasn't the first time an animal head had been thrown onto the pitch as a means of protest, with Barcelona fans hurling a pig's head at Luis Figo, after he completed a controversial switch to sworn-rivals Real Madrid.


It is currently unclear as to how supporters managed to smuggle the bull's head into Dresden's DDV-Stadion, but a formal investigation is underway from the German Football Association (DFB), according to "?reports.
