Chelsea to Rival Liverpool in £20m Move for Germany Left-Back Jonas Hector

Published on: 16 August 2016

Despite "?putting pen-to-paper on a new deal at FC Koln, German left-back Jonas Hector is continuing to attract strong interest from Liverpool and if further reports are to believed, Chelsea could be in the hunt for his signature too.

According to the "?Mirror, Blues manager Antonio Conte is on the lookout for a new full-back after allowing Baba Rahman to join Schalke on loan.

At 26, Hector is now an established German international - with 20 caps to his name - having featured in Euro 2016 and played over 300 games in his club career.

While Liverpool clearly need a left-back, what with the much maligned Alberto Moreno dropping another clanger against Arsenal, Chelsea boss Antonio Conte is also short of options in that position.

Spaniard Cesar Azpilicueta has been Chelsea's first-choice left back for the last two seasons after seeing off competition from Ashley Cole and then Filipe Luis, but there are still doubts about his overall ability.

Hector was a known target for Liverpool earlier this summer and is still on their radar.

After starting every game at Euro 2016 - including the quarter-final against then Italy boss Conte's Azzurri side - he has the kind of pedigree that would improve either Premier League side.
