Chelsea New-Boy Michy Batshuayi Cuts Short Holiday to Join Team Mates on Pre-Season Tour

Published on: 18 July 2016

Chelsea's new signing Michy Batshuayi has reportedly cut short his holiday plans to join up with his new team mates, as well as meet and work with the club's new manager Antonio Conte.

According to the "?Daily Mail, the Belgium international shortened his summer break by a week in order to join Chelsea's pre-season tour of Austria, and landed on Sunday to join up with the travelling squad, which includes the likes of Diego Costa, John Terry and Oscar.

The eager 22-year-old was involved in Belgium's ultimately disappointing Euro 2016 campaign, where they were knocked out in the quarter-finals against Wales, and should have had three weeks to recover. However, Chelsea's new-boy has gone against this rule to prepare for his first taste of Premier League football.

After being given his new kit for the first time since joining the club for £33m from Marseille, Batshuayi joined in on Conte's training session with the team this morning, having lost their first game to Rapid Vienna 2-0.

Batshuayi may play some part in the club's final pre-season game in Austria against Wolfsberger AC, which"? also sees the return of defender Kurt Zouma, who has travelled with the squad primarily to train and regain some match fitness.

The 21-year-old suffered a gruesome and painful knee injury against Manchester United in February last season, and as result tore his anterior cruciate ligament.

It had been hoped that the player would be ready after six months, however Conte and his backroom staff have decided that an appearance before the end of 2016 is the new aim for the defender.

Later in the month Conte will take his Chelsea side to the USA, where they will face stiffer competition in Liverpool, Real Madrid and AC Milan.
