"?New York City midfielder and Italian legend Andrea Pirlo has denied ever making controversial comments suggesting that former his club Juventus are 'still laughing' at Manchester United over the initial steal of Paul Pogba from Old Trafford back in 2012.
Comments credited to Pirlo were first published by the Daily Mail over the weekend.
"On the first day training session Pogba had with Juventus the players were laughing," Pirlo was alleged to have said, apparently poking fun at United for letting the young Frenchman go.
"We were not laughing for any other reason than we were just in total disbelief that this player with so much obvious ability was able to leave a club the size of Manchester United for free - and I think Juventus are still laughing."
United bought Pogba back to Old Trafford for a world record fee of £89m last week.
However, Pirlo, who was a team-mate of Pogba's for three seasons between 2012 and 2015, has since publicly stated that he did not speak to the newspaper about his ex-colleague (or United for that matter).
Just to make it clear, I never gave any interview to the daily mail talking about Pogba and Manchester pic.twitter.com/JfR7TPIw0E
"Just to make it clear, I never gave any interview to the daily mail talking about Pogba and Manchester," the MLS veteran tweeted on Monday afternoon along with a message that read 'Caution. No Bullsh*t Zone'.
