"?Bayern Munich centre-back Jerome Boateng is close to making his comeback from injury.
Boateng has been sidelined since he suffered a muscle tear during Germany's Euro 2016 defeat against France during the summer, and recently returned to training ahead of the Bundesliga season.
He ran laps with Arjen Robben, Holger Badstuber, Douglas Costa and new signing Renato Sanches at Bayern's training facility at Sabener Strasse on Monday, "?according to Bayern's official website, but missed Bayern's German Super Cup win against Dortmund on Sunday.
While remaining optimistic, Boateng admitted that getting fit for the first Bundesliga match of the season could be a tall order.
"I don't want to commit myself to it," "?he reportedly told Kicker.
"It right now looks good, but the Bremen match might come too soon. I don't want anything to happen again now."
Boateng will hopefully start training with a football later this week following further examination of his thigh, before joining up with the rest of the squad at a later date to continue his recovery.
With Boateng close to a comeback, Bayern have had more good news on the injury front, with midfield star Arturo Vidal escaping serious injury after limping off the field during Bayern's Super Cup encounter against Dortmund. Vidal scored during his side's win, but suffered a knock after his goal.
The club confirmed that Vidal had emerged from the match unscathed, adding that "Vidal has not sustained a major injury and is expected to resume training on Wednesday."
Boateng was part of Germany's Euro 2016 squad which made the semi-final, before being dumped out by hosts France.
